Honorary Mention (I Tried Not to Love You)

I tried not to love you, but then I ran into a wall. (Quite literally.)

I think I deserve an award.
Honorary Mention, let’s say—at the very least.
Because I tried not to love you,
But then I ran into a wall.
Tried not to think about you,
Your face,
Your smile—
BUT GOSHDANGIT.
I hate walls and I
I should really watch where I’m going.
(Ouch.)
But I can’t.
You,
You stupid
Awesome
Awful
Wonderful
Egotistical
Heartwarming
JERK.
You.
I hit doors because of you.
I
Can’t see where I’m going,
Can’t think,
Can’t breathe,
YOU.
YES, YOU.
Stop filling my head so I can walk,
So I can live,
BECAUSE I’M A PERSON, TOO, DANG IT.

At least,
I thought so.
But now I’m only half of one,
And maybe that’s why I have trouble walking,
Trouble functioning,
Trouble EVERYTHING,
Because in the end,
You’re still the cause of all my problems.
You,
You jerk.
(You other half of me; I’m so hopelessly in love with you.)
I think I deserve an award.
For trying to still walk in a straight line on my own—
—"No, I’m not a drunkard, Sir."—
(At least, off of anything alcoholic.)
—At the very least.

The End
