Homeward

A poem about someone who feels that they are wrongly hated by many people, and they're trying to find out why

Is there something wrong with me

Can I see through your eyes

As to why I'm so despised

I've lost faith in the system

I stand alone

I've battered, bloody and bruised

I fade into the distance

Loss of love, faith is gone

When the world is laughing at you

It's so hard to carry on

Homeward, onward

I can only feel a numbing sorrow

Leaving me confused like morphine

I've gotta escape this world

Withdraw deep to my dreams

Is there something I can't feel

I need to touch with your hands

Is this why I'm so despised

I'm burning up like a falling star

I'm nothing but a broken man

Overdosed on sorrow it's eating at me

Hooked on self-loathing and pity

Homeward, onward

I can only feel a numbing sorrow

Leaving me confused like morphine

I've gotta escape this world

Withdraw deep to my dreams

Come home she says

Sleep forever she says

This world offers you nothing

Why the hell do you need to stay

Homeward, onward

I can only feel a numbing sorrow

Leaving me confused like morphine

I've gotta escape this world

Withdraw deep to my dreams

The End
