Black Ice Over My Heart

Black ice smooths and gathers on the road,

And layers itself ten inches thick over my heart,

It might momentarily splinter,

It may crack but it will never thaw out,

Sometimes it teases me by melting away,

But icing over again within half of a second,

Within half the beat of a pulse I am emotionless once more.
