Hold

There’s no such world where we thrive in perfection
really we need to fall apart to truly appreciate anything
I know I seem to enjoy the maudlin side of life
but really I am a sucker for the ‘happily ever after’ scenarios

I make the same mistakes and I slowly learn
I let in the one person I swore I left behind
It just goes to show that there’s so much more
than meets the eye with some people

White lightning rips the oceanic skies
a dark mood overcomes my pitiful lies
but it doesn’t matter, we made it
I care for you all
but I’ll still hold you at arm’s length

I seem to relish being in harm’s way
maybe I feel a sense of identity when I
play the same old heartbroken kid
Don’t deny it, you wouldn’t have it any other way

You make the same old mistakes and I slowly conform
I guess we fell into the same routine of helping each other
It just goes to show there’s so much more about us
than we gave each other credit for

White lightning rips the oceanic skies
a dark mood overcomes your pitiful lies
but it doesn’t matter, we made it
I care for you all
but I’ll still hold you at arm’s length

The End
