heron in the water

heron in the water,

won't you come and stay for a while?

no, you say?

why don't you come and sit around the fire?

but, no, no, no,

because the heron lives by the water's edge,

a home formed by river banks

and outstretched trees, reaching out to the crested waves.

a great blue heron,

mighty and tall,

you always told me they rule them all.

you always said, you always said

i was a heron at heart,

but now, I think you realize,

when the dawn comes

i'll join the heron in the great blue sea.

The End
