her heart was heavy
heavy like the keystrokes on her computer
heavy like clouds full of too much rain.

her tears were brimming
ready to overflow,
but not ready to leave their shelter of safety inside of her.

she longed for compassion,
cor companionship,
for intimacy,

to be valued and appreciated
to be known
and to be held.

her heart knew what it was to be abused
her mind knew the tortures of relationships gone wrong
her spirit knew the feeling of being crushed

she simply wanted to feel whole again
she needed to be made complete
and she would have given anything to do so.

she would have compromised anything
she would have resorted to anything
she would have surrendered to anything

that would take the emptiness
the pain and the fear
the apathy and the brokenness away.

The End
