Thrown into Hades

Hell was a machination,
a creation manifested in men.
Built to subjugate and quell,
now present in towers and spires.

Hell was a god before God,
its wrath feared more then His.
A sentinel sly and cruel
that still peers over our shoulders.

Hell was a fabrication,
an ethereal echo of the world,
removing our guilts and evils.
We've only fooled ourselves.
