Heartbreaker

I leave the ashtray on the mahogany table
Hiding my last picture of you
Flames rise from the inside
I want to burn a hole straight through my heart

Swept away like everything else
I keep to myself, yeah
My blood turns to ice
As I lose control for another Sunday

It's dim in self imposed secrecy
Trying to hide what's mine
It can never be whole
It can never be whole without you

I built my life around her
Left my livelihood in a blur
All the idols I'd shatter
All in all
She was a heartbreaker
Even if she didn't know it

I leave the letters strewn on my floor
They are better untold
Rain falls and obscures my last beacon
The window to a world without you

When we talked the skies would bruise
Evenings die for the midnight
Now it's mid afternoon
And there's nothing to take the pain away

It's dim in self imposed secrecy
Trying to hide what's mine
It can never be whole
It can never be whole without you

I built my life around her
Left my livelihood in a blur
All the idols I'd shatter
All in all
She was a heartbreaker
Even if she didn't know it

I leave the ashtray on the mahogany table
Hiding my last picture of you
Flames rise from the inside
I want to burn a hole straight through my heart

I built my life around her
Left my livelihood in a blur
All the idols I'd shatter
All in all
I was a heartbreaker
And she knew it

The End
