Heart of Glass

I've broken my heart so many times

I've stopped keeping track

I try to hold back

But every time I do

I get another crack

On my heart, made of glass

I bandage the damage

But it never seems to last

Long enough to stop the pain

Feels like I've been hit by a train

On the tracks are the pieces

Of my heart, made of glass

If you took away my heart

The pain would cease

But all my nasty words

My tongue would release

For without a heart

Even one made of glass

Secrets would arise

From a darkened past

So to this heart

I hold fast

The only ticket to heaven

That I have left

My heart of glass

The End
