Handmade Butterflies

Plastic dragonflies litter your walls
I’ve imagined myself here
In the glow-in-the-dark illume of your stars
I could be happy here... if only

Are we alone or have the
porcelain dolls begun to stare
I didn't know who I was
when your dreamcatcher tangled my heart

All I ever wanted was
one of your handmade butterflies
to call my own
All I ever wanted was
something to call ours
other than mutual affection

Royal Blue and Regal Green
I am almost silent in your eyes
Dare me to pull you close
in the gaze of a thousand emerald spiders

Drowning in the harmonies
of your favourite CD’s
I can’t believe you’re kissing me
kissing me to the gliding melodies

The End
