Greed's Delight

From God's delight does Heaven's spoon drip,
Angels falling like crumble with
Curdled grace and caramelised wings
Tarnished under the heat of a blow-torch.

With bodies whipped like Dairy Cream and
Halos shattered like Smarties sugar-shells
Under the bite of a tyrant Devil with a
Sweet tooth.

The trumpet-call hearkens the
Carrying on of carrion-eaters,
Midnight snacking and an
Expansive waistline.

Ecstasy in over-indulgence until the
Next weigh-in, waiting with delight-laden
Guilt and precarious fear - humble echoes
Of sin-free pleasures.

The End
