Goodnight and God Bless

A poem of bereavement when losing a father

Goodnight and God Bless

I touched your gentle face Dad.
As you lay sleeping there.
Knowing that I would never see you again.
Never stroke your greying hair.
You looked so free and peaceful.
I knew that your soul had gone.
And is now in heaven with Mum, Dad.
With the one that you belong.
I see you both in my minds eye.
Watching from above.
And knowing you are once more together.
It fills my heart with love.

Goodnight and God bless you both.
Your loving daughter

The End
