Mom and dad settle their differencesMature

Mom and dad settle their differences

My mom and dad,

They settled their differences,

Then a school psychologist,

She insisted on visiting me.

The psychologist believed,

My dad told me to stay quiet,

For this reason mom told me,

Not to tell my dad,

However, knowing the truth,

I told dad immediately.

Dad was naturally indignant,

At what my mom had done,

But promised to say nothing,

So I would not be in  trouble.

Staying calm,

The best way to avoid suspicion,

As well I knew,

I put up with it.

Even now,

Recalling the comments,

Of that psychologist,

The words anger me,

Yet the startling subtext,

And dramatic irony,

Never ceases to amuse me.

The End
