Full moon

an attempt at a valentines day poem

I’ll stay awake tonight

And stare into the sky

Imagine just how it would feel

To chase the stars as they go by

And suddenly I see

As Artemis flies through

I seem to mis-imagine that

The constellations look like you

And then I see a flash

Like lightning striking twice

And as the shooting star goes past

My heart relieves itself of ice

And here I make a wish

I wish it would come true

I wish that I could lie awake

And count the stars as they go by

I’ll look your eyes

And see only what’s right

And let my mind surrender to

The cold awakening of night

And love, it makes me smile

My lips they form a grin

And I am trapped here in your gaze

I’d let you trap me here again

And here I am to say

I’ve given you my heart

The heart I’ll never take away

Or let myself be torn apart

And here I make a wish

I wish it would come true

I wish that I could hold your hand

And watch my life go by with you

And here I make a wish

I wish it would come true

I wish that you would stay with me

I wish that I could be with you

The End
