From the Ashes

I was stranded on the last street in Birmingham
and I was left hailing a cab that never stopped
Couldn't stop laughing at the thought of walking home
when you was too nervous to offer me a ride

Rising from the ashes
I only look on the bright side
of life
when I have nothing else left

Broke my last glass on the long and winding road
right about the time my hopes for the future died
I'm not that drunk, rather I haven't drunk enough
otherwise I'd still be laughing

Rising from the ashes
I only look on the bright side
of life
When I have nothing else left

Rising from this gloom
I wonder about what tomorrow
brings
I'm scared I'll die alone
I'm scared I won't be able to change it

The End
