The darkness runs

Far and wide

Now is my chance

But if I run

Where will I hide?

Horrid stories

Of the beaten,

And those…….

Who haven’t eaten!

Their screams

And cries

Spilled into my brain

The memories stick

Of the pain in their eyes!

The thought of freedom

Rushes through me,

I would run,

And dance

Free as could be!!

But I sit here

Cold in the barn

Rapped up

In a thin sheet

That’s worn!

Light rises,

My master calls

I shall stay,

And work,

Until night falls!!
