Free To Wonder
Doubt begets doubt, and the same with failure
Feeding on the voids in our hearts and the tears we cry
Grey images of defeat flicker across the sky
Besieged and self-deprecated, thoughts derailed
Isn’t it a dangerous time
When we’re left alone to ponder
Demons fester in the dark of our hearts
And set against us our minds to wonder
Our own worst enemies
And it’s clear in the night time
As the bowstring tenses then snaps
As our senses take flight and unwind
Hatred stems from sorrow and we fear the outcome
You can never outrun the fears you possess
We focus too hard and endlessly obsess
And we are broken before the rising sun
Isn’t it a dangerous place
When we’re left alone to dream, babe
We work towards our demise
If we could be happy we could’ve escaped
Our own worst enemies
And it’s clear in the night time
As the bowstring tenses then snaps
As our senses take flight and unwind
And a broken body is left behind
