Fragile Refrains

A series of songs that don't really fit anywhere else, and are therefore grouped together. In some ways, a more simplified telling of my life through lyrics. Most of these focus on writing with heartfelt emotion, rather than a literary focus, so just keep that in mind as you read and review. Your thoughts and comments are much appreciated.

Every time I start to think,

Things are better left incomplete,

I recall the words you said.

“There’s something new at the end,

Something worth discovering.

So here’s to what’s ahead.”

And now I’m lying on my back,

Trying to forget all that I lack,

And it’s you that comes to mind.

I close my eyes and see your face.

Your soft, smooth skin I used to trace.

Back when you were all mine.

So I’m dreaming again,

Of when this all began.

And wondering,

What we could be.

The memories remain,

Like a fragile refrain,

Reminding me,

What we could be.

It’s raining here in New Orleans.

It’s the kinda rain that always seems,

To remind me of home.

Cause I remember all those days,

Outside kissing in the rain,

But now I stand alone.

I was once the one you called,

When everything seemed to fall,

But now the phone don’t ring.

So now I’m thinking to myself,

But none of the thoughts ever help,

So then, I start to sing.

So I’m dreaming again,

Of when this all began.

And wondering,

What we could be.

The memories remain,

Like a fragile refrain,

Reminding me,

What we could be.

You’ve got to be careful with your memories,

Cause they will keep you up at night.

A lonely longing you can’t deny.

The memories remain,

Like a fragile refrain,

Keeping me up at night,

Cause it's you I can't deny.

The End
