Forgotten Girl
© 1996 Nick Robinson (FTH Ch 7, pg 90)

She’s looking out the window
She’s looking across the road
She’s hoping somewhere amongst the crowd
She’ll see someone she knows
But she’s been sitting there for hours now
And it seems like it won’t end
Until she sees a familiar face...
Someone to call a friend

It’s been so long for her now
She’s become a forgotten girl
And no one cares to ask her how
She’s just become a forgotten girl
But forgotten girl
(It’s time to hold your head up high)
And forgotten girl
(It’s time to get up and go on outside)
‘Cuz forgotten girl
(You’ll never know if you never try)
So forgotten girl just go...
(And leave behind the tears you’ve cried)

No she wasn’t looking for someone
To protect her from the blame
But she’s taken all she should take
She’s suffered enough shame
And it doesn’t seem to matter to them
No matter how hard she’s tried
She just can’t seem to make amends
No one cares to ask her why

Cause forgiveness doesn’t come easy anymore
Well at least not around here
They only care about keeping score
And now forgotten girl it’s clear
You’ve gotta get up and get outta that chair
Dry your eyes, and fix your hair
Just walk out that door and into the world
And say so long to the forgotten girl

Now forgotten girl
(It’s time to hold your head up high)
And forgotten girl
(It’s time to get up and go on outside)
Oh forgotten girl
(It’s time to start a new life)
So forgotten girl, just go
(You’ll never grow if you never try)

Just say so long, just say good-bye
At least you’ll know you’d tried

The End
