Forgiveness

A Child sits

awaiting his punishment

knowing he’s done wrong.

His nose runs a little

and he looks up

expecting to find anger.

Instead,

the face is smiling,

a kind, understanding smile.

Forgiveness

Because she understands

He did not mean to,

And, it can be replaced,

But this child

cannot.
