Valentine's Lines

Your touch ripples across my skin
Every ridge a rose and whorl a kiss.
This life of clichéd metaphors and your angel’s eyes
Is all I ever wanted, let me hear
Those age-old words from your exotic lips,
They never sound the same coming from you.
Valentine’s rhymes and over-rated sonnets
Are always the best.
My last breath is bent on your heart.
Let me feel its racing pulse on my wilting brain,
Your words put all my thoughts to sleep:
These Shakespeare lines and Hallmark rhymes
Are the night’s greatest lullabies.

The End
