For that little girl

In church last sunday, a father spoke of how he lost his 8 year old daughter to a drunk driver. I can only imagine his pain and anguish. How does one ever recover from this?

A million kisses that I could have taken
wiped many a tear even some that were fake
took your little hand and guided through life
now brutally robbed by someone else's mistake

I ask the lord this question every day
Why give life -to abruptly end in a few years?
give us the joy to see you take your steps
and spend the remainder of ours solely in tears

We only hope that you are in a better place
and the tiny dreams you had come true
there are angels to attend to your every need
and the lord himself your fears subdue

The End
