I fooled myself till recently

I told myself I loved you

My love ran out some time ago

Not that you of course would know

I clung to a thought

An idea

A dream

Of love and all that it might mean

So yea I loved some time ago

My love you were my love

Oblivious then and still even now

That my heart held only you

But after three years of this ignorance

Or more I cannot tell

I find that love hath floated away

To some other wild dell

I still hold you in my thoughts though

But perhaps not in my dreams

For I gave up on your love some time ago

And all that it might mean.
