London Rain

The last time we met it was raining

Great drops like tears falling on to London streets.

Our friendship

Tainted by my lack of constancy

Was no more.

Others stared on

As you kissed me.

An unexpected gift of sobriety

Your hands coarse and hard held mine

The moment

A brief fleeting eternity

Escaped us

And flowed into subterranean seas

As others clamoured for shelter

We remained behind

The shock of doing

Causing us to step away

We looked down

To see our past and future

Discarded

Our kiss like a river

We knew we couldn't swim

The End
