Somewhere along the lineMature

i assume
somewhere along the line
you thought
kissing bruises
and making love
to cold bones
would be enough
to mend the wounds
left by other people
would be enough
to write words of love
on every rib
would be enough
to shatter bad dreams.
i assume
somewhere along the line
you fell in love,
by looking into a window
and shattering the glass
begging for the shadow
to be much more.
i assume
somewhere along the line
you lathered blood and bone
with everything
you could muster
in hopes of being let in
the window
you already shattered.
i assume
somewhere along the line
you lit a match
and watched it burn
against skin
that needed heat.
i assume
somewhere along the line
i needed to realize
being alone
wouldn't be enough.
i assume
somewhere along the line
i had to give my heart
to someone that would
give it hope
i assume
somewhere along the line
i fell in love
with a soul
much different from mine
more vibrant and alive.
i assume
somewhere along the line
i needed a little push
to come back to life.
i assume
somewhere along the line
love
was enough
to mend my soul.

The End
