The Fault in our Stars

you were the fresh breath of oxygen
that let my heart breathe

you were the shoulder I lent on
when my leg grew too weak to stand

you were the smile in my eyes
when the pain got to much to talk

and you were the person I thought of
when they told me the news I had to grieve.

You were the person I turned to
when I just wanted to talk

and you were the one I clung to
when I knew I was losing myself.

You were the phone call I dreaded
when I knew it would not be your voice

and you were the one that had to be told
though I knew it would break you more

You were the fresh breath of oxygen
but you were taken away

And you were the shoulder I lent on
Until the day that I said goodbye

The End
