False Elixir

It's about how people can be pressured by peer groups, outside media, etc to appear or live a certain way

Reflections of a mirror name me a monster

I look to the pages and envy our modern gods

Celebrity freeze frame and another trend

Veiled in sleight of hand, how we pretend

Beauty can be eternal

And the world can be yours for a regular price

A shade of youth comes easily to the foolish

A feeling of peace devoid of a sacrifice

Doctors take me for a ride

Eat this and shed your skin

Only the beautiful can survive

Resurrect my youth under the knife

Drink a false elixir, despair

Only the beautiful can survive

Outcast if you refuse to change

Hold up a mirror and now you're a monster

I've tried everything and anything to endure

But another page to turn renders me impure

I am addicted babe

But not to any drugs that you can name

Revive my flesh for a month of two

Another pawn in a grotesque game

Doctors take me for a ride

Eat this and shed your skin

Only the beautiful can survive

Resurrect my youth under the knife

Drink a false elixir, despair

Only the beautiful can survive

The End
