Lights in the darkMature

A desperate chime
of coursing nerves
a spark of pain here
a flare of fear there
when the dark
is the place
you never wanted to hide
that is where you're found
so damaged a soul & mind
you don't want to go on
every scar
a reason not to
one black thought
after another
after awhile
you get kind of numb
but the day came
I wasn't so numb
and there happened to be
a light
bouncing off the walls
reflecting on the water
a reminder
that the world
is not all bad
and if I could love
any light
I'd already love
you.

The End
