Every Which Way but Happy...

“Trust me,” you said, so I let down my guard.

“Tear down walls.  Let me in.  I want you and your heart.”

But you…

Made me laugh, made me love, and you made me believe…

Made me cry, broke my heart…

Turned your back, took my joy, and then tore it apart.

I tried so hard to be something you need…

And fought like hell just to make you perceive…

What we had,

It was worth it.

It could work.

We could be.

Instead, broken, I stand…

As you fade from my life.

Holding tight to my secret,

Heart in shards on the floor.

Look at me.  Here I am.  I’m all broken apart.

Ignored and betrayed.  Trust again like the wind.

The silence, it screams, as it calls out your name.

So I sit here alone, at one with the pain.

Working hard.  Building walls, I shut myself in…

Every which way but happy.

The End
