Impossible Wishes.

You're hurting badly, all torn up, inside
You try to hide it but it's so clear to me
I wish I could wrap my arms around you
And take that pain away so you can be happy

I wish there was something I could say
To take that agonizing pain away
No matter how hard I'm trying
Inside, my best friend's still dying

I wish I could protect you
From every harsh word said
I wish there was some way to do more
To stop those images haunting your head

I wish there was something I could say
To take the agonizing pain away
No matter how hard I'm trying
Inside, my best friend's still dying

I wish I could give you some of my strength
But my strength's clearly not enough
To help you to cope with it all
To cope with your life that's so tough

I wish there was something I could say
To take the agonizing pain away
No matter how hard I'm trying
Inside, my best friend's still dying

I wish I didn't have to watch you suffer
It tears me up but I try and smile for you
Because we're so attuned to each other
It just might make you smile a little too

I wish there was something I could say
To take the agonizing pain away
No matter how hard I'm trying
Inside, my best friend's still dying

The End
