Changed ForeverMature

I watched him,

Lower and lower,

In the ground.

*

I looked up to see

His husband.

His husband?!

Still can't get past it.

*

No I'm not homophobic

Just irritated

And mad.

*

Why Uncle Brett,

Didn't you tell us

Instead of now?

I stormed into a fret.

*

It was hot and sunny

As it should.

For it shouldn't rain

On Brett's parade,

however dark it is.

*

I looked up,

Sun burning my eyes,

And I decided upon something.

*

I would not think dark,

No more.

Nor would I hide from life.

I would live it

To the fullest.

*

I left that funeral

A changed girl,

With changes that would shape me

Forever.

The End
