Changed ForeverMature

I watched him,

Lower and lower,

In the ground.

I looked up to see

His husband.

His husband?!

Still can't get past it.

No I'm not homophobic

Just irritated

And mad.

Why Uncle Brett,

Didn't you tell us

Instead of now?

I stormed into a fret.

It was hot and sunny

As it should.

For it shouldn't rain

On Brett's parade,

however dark it is.

I looked up,

Sun burning my eyes,

And I decided upon something.

I would not think dark,

No more.

Nor would I hide from life.

I would live it

To the fullest.

I left that funeral

A changed girl,

With changes that would shape me

The End
