Into the room, bang smack in the middle,
a huge, grey beast
looking awkward really
then there was you sitting
looking at me fiddling
Umm, well, you see
theres nothing to say, is there?
the elephant knows it too
its stuck here until you do, until I do
so obvious, a hulking great animal
You look up and so do I
wondering who is going to make
the move, the word, be the bigger person
neither of us want to but
its getting restless, we must give it a try
Both take a breath at once
wait, not you first,
painfully polite, not like this normally
it must be the elephant in the room
lets just get this over with. This instant.
The two dreaded words,
its all we all want to hear
so near, so close. I'll say it then!
and the room suddenly seems three time bigger
