Drive Away

Recommend

Keys jammed in the ignition.
Clock glowing bright, it's midnight.
Reverse slides into drive.
No destination, but a different life.
Volume goes up, speakers explode.
Headlights flash on the open road.
Vision mixes with memories.
A past that just wasn’t enough.
A fight that was just too tough.
Out of the boring and into the world.
But try as he might, he cannot leave.
Like a boat out at sea, he’s anchored to this place.
He has to cut the lines or be erased.
Held back by everyone, he makes a choice.
It’s time to live, time to be free.
The engine roars, the car shoots forward.
He takes one look back, and he is gone.
Out for adventure, no matter what comes.
