I realise some people have dreams

But it annoys me when they give up and don’t believe

They have to think they can do it and make it to the top

Even if it means climbing a few feet followed by a drop

The main thing is progress, you’re moving towards the tip

Of course there will be the times where you may slip

But you must get back up from these and start again

As long as you do, you can always count on friends

To help you if things get tough and you can’t cope

From the bottom it may look like a steep slope

Use your own strength no need for a rope

All positive, all yep not nope

 

You can make it there, you can make it anywhere

You may find out that life isn’t fair, but all I can say is you have to prepare

Plan life, as if you fail to prepare you prepare to fail, if things get rough you have to prevail

Think of the end result, think of what you could be, prove people wrong, look who they now see

A person who has grown in confidence and belief, all pressure on you, no let up or relief

 

A few months later, your dream is nearer, the future is clearer; you want this as a career,

You’ve written some songs and you’ve received good feedback from others

It’s time to ditch the pencil and throw away the rubber,

It’s time for the pen, its permanent and you can’t change it again

All you can do is put a line through it, but that doesn’t erase it,

All it does is cover it up, but why cover up when you can move up

The talent is there, I think the confidence is there as well

You have a big future, they said, I can tell

So you book a session in a studio and record the words

Sing 4 songs and all sounds superb

The booths door is locked, do not disturb

Singing your heart out, what a simple verb

 

You can make it there, you can make it anywhere

You may find out that life isn’t fair, but all I can say is you have to prepare

You have stood up and conquered your fears

Fought against the haters and left them behind

Just keep travelling towards the light

An album out now and famous friends

No need to be fake, no need to pretend

You made it now after the hard graft you put in

You made it, the beginning of the next album, you cannot wait to begin

Yes the world may be full of sorrow and sin

But nothing, yes nothing can wipe away the grin from your skin
