Dreaming Of Barbados
I'm looking at the weather reports
Rain, and guess what, more rain
I close my eyes, breathing in, still feeling the pain
If only I could tread the world every night
If only I could feel what you see in the movies
If I could fly high, beyond the telescope's sight
Close your eyes, see Barbados sands
See your lover in her bikini, holding hands
You know you can go where you want
But wake up, life's calling
Wake up, your dreams are crashing, falling
What did I see, flying free
Sign yourself away into indignity, fortnightly
And realising misery comes in three, get the set
Life is imitation, another rulebook on etiquette
Close your eyes, see New York City lights
Drink the champagne, soak up the wild party nights
You know you can go where you want
But wake up, life's calling
Wake up, your dreams are crashing, falling
I'm writing words down on forms
Laying my life to someone who hasn't lived
When you've seen one, you've seen them all
Prancing round the stage just to exist
What did I see, flying free
Sign yourself away into indignity, fortnightly
And realising misery comes in threes, get the set
Life is imitation, another rulebook on etiquette
