Do You See Her?

Do you see her?

Her, over there, in that window

With her hair dressed in the golden light of the sun

Do you see her?

Her, over there, with that book

Her eyes reflecting the brilliance of the page

Do you see her?

Her, over there, with her pen

Meticulously dissecting her every thought

Do you see her?

Her, over there, by those people

Studiously ignoring the reality of her life

And do you see her?

Her, over there, far away

Though she is standing so close, she seems so far

It makes me want to wonder why she doesn't want to stay.
