Broken penMature

A broken pen
sits underneath shadows
worn down and cracked
spilling ink where-ever
it may be tracked.
A slender hand
reaches for the pen
to bring it into light.
The finger curl around
the edges,
and brings the tip
to the page.
The words flow like gold,
the poem swirls like a dream
that would never
reach the stars.
The pen
no longer drenched
in darkness
breaches all the lines
with the drips
of the ink
that mark a new life.
The words start to flow
like a house
from the foundation
A dream
no longer
having to reach
for the stars.
It's right there
at the fingertips
of the hand
that saved the pen.
They hold tight
to the pen
never having
to let go.
