Dial Tone
My phone rings annoyingly,
and I look at the Caller ID,
and there I see,
UNKNOWN CALLER.
I pick it up,
thinking, maybe, possibly, it may be a friend.
But when I say "Hello?"
There is nothing, no noise, on the other end.
Soon enough, I hear the dial tone,
and all I can do is hang up the phone.
But I still wonder who had called,
and why they didn't say anything at all.
