A note, a letter, a poem,
a measly cry for help,
a plea for mercy,
perched between pages
of a book at your bedside.
something small to notice,
you notice everything,
that's not me.

I hear the paper screaming,
their pain of such a burden
take it from their backs
and let it sag your brow.

VVill your hands tremble
or your eyes shed a tear,
stomach heave to your mouth
or blood fill your ears?
Will you even care?

The End
