First in a series of Dear Riley poems
I want you to know I love you and I miss you
I really don't want you to go
It's been such a long long time, you know...
It wasn't your fault
What he did there, to you
It's not your fault you hang your head in shame
Hon, really, you didn't even know his name
But it's all right
I promise to be there for you
I'll be the shoulder upon which you can cry
I'll listen when you ask over and over, "why?"
Let it out of your system
There's really nothing more to do
I'll be there always to listen
Don't end your life, you don't know what you're missing
