With eyes wide open

I greet the darkness,

Neither family

  Or stranger

Just a familiar face.

It visits me always,

More regular than clockwork.

The years have given

The darkness

A friendly face.

Darkness welcomes me

As it approaches,

Wrapping me round in

A comforting embrace.

It wears a sad face

When light invades

To return me to my cage

Me and the darkness

Are wrenched a\way.

The End
