Darker Side Of Me

That moment when you realise you’re not perfect,

When you realise you’re just a fragile wreck of a person,

When you lose hope of recovery,

When the depression begins to set in.

Creeping tendrils of darkness,

Edging closer and closer,

Wrapping you up in their cold embrace,

Holding you captive.

That moment when you realise you’re not perfect,

When you realise you’re not special,

When you lose everything you care for,

When you become hollow and empty.

The darkness holds you close,

It’s presence almost a comfort,

Letting your body know it can still feel,

Letting you know you’re still alive.

That moment when you realise you’re not perfect,

When you realise things don’t go to plan,

When you lose who you are,

When you don’t want to be who you are.

Your heart still beats despite the darkness,

Your chest rises and falls despite the darkness,

You continue despite the darkness,

You live despite the darkness.

That moment you realise you’re not perfect,

When you realise you never will be,

When you realise you never were,

Except to her.

The darkness is your only companion now,

The darkness that is always with you,

The darkness that lets you know you’re alive,

By making you want to die.

The End
