Dragonflies

Mason jars,

Golden ties,

Glittering, flitting dragonflies

A little boy, and what he buys,

Licorice, and things besides;

Silver clouds

And dragonflies -

A little boy who never cries,

Because mommy tells him not to;

In the Mason jar, the fireflies -

He watches them as he tries

To paint the world a different blue;

Silver clouds

And dragonflies -

His only father, who never lies,

A broken mother who cries and cries

The little boy, he paints, he tries,

 Through the fire behind his eyes,

But the fire burns and dies -

In the Mason jar, the fireflies

And other glittering things besides;

Silver clouds

And dragonflies -

And on its wings, the dragon dies.

The End
