Cynic

Hurt little child

whose dreams are too unrealistic;

she had a false education,

and now inner conflict rages.

There are times when she imagines

the most beautiful scenes:

when she pretends the things she wants

are reasonable.

But this ugly world

scratches and stings her,

makes her feel like a fool

who needs a reality check.

Hurt little child

who got the wrong impression;

she thought life could be perfect,

and now her heart is as war-torn

(like the world in which she lives).

There are times when she imagines

the most beautiful scenes:

when she pretends the things she wants

are reasonable.

But this ugly world

scratches and stings her,

makes her feel like an idiot

who needs to rethink her mental design.

Hurt little child

who sees the pain and the hatred;

from here the cynicism  comes

to cause the battle inside.

If no one else is happy,

why will she be happy?

If no one shares her dreams,

why would they come true?

If everyone else sees the world a different way,

she must be the one who’s wrong,

and needs that reality check.

The things she sees each day

attack her precious daydreams,

make her long for a different home.

Sometimes she feels

she could attract the total wrong guy for her,

‘cause sometimes it’s easier

to not believe in love.

The End
