Crystal Clear

It’s not easy to look ahead
when I always wonder what I have left
These revelations always come flooding back
when I am weathered with ignorance

Where I once saw streetlights
I now see spotlights of shame
Love is a concept I can’t get around
She will have to see I won’t play her game

Yeah I hear you
Crystal clear
But you have given
an excuse to fear
You’ll fall for the next guy
and leave me asking why...

I was held up in traffic the other day
illuminated in the stark glow of red
Reminded me of when I broke the bank
trying to reach out to you, as you lay in his arms

Yeah he is my friend and he tried to help
but he only made me feel inadequate
Basing my self worth on your actions
I’ll be done before our next date

Yeah I hear you
Crystal clear
But you have given
an excuse to fear
You’ll fall for the next guy
and leave me asking why...

Sadness will devour me whole
leaving only the paranoia
I am always second best, yeah
it’s my life story, the story of thousands

The End
