Couples in Conflict

I stare up and see the world in your eyes,
Unfortunately it’s something you’ve made me despise.

A subtle sweetness lingers on your breath,
Alcohol’s touch, bringing poison and death.

You whisper sweet nothings into my ear,
But it’s when you’re romantic that I have cause to fear.

A touch to my face, your hand firm and strong,
I’m surprised that the bruises have lasted so long.

An arm round my waist, you take me to bed,
You got what you wanted the night we wed.

The End
