Close Your Eyes

About seeing a friend die before you, realising theres nothing you can do

Doors slide away/and the light opens in front of you/

whitewashed ceilings and sterilised floors/

walk towards a frail soul/one who has fought and lost the war

See them open their eyes/

and the fires that fade away/

rolling towards the blue skies/

hanging on to every hour of the day

Turn around/and blank walls stare back/

A steady beep a distant sound/

close your eyes and see the light/

appearing on and off the track

In the glow of morning sun/

hearts broken and mended/

rushing footsteps to and fro/

as night comes and the day is done

See them open their eyes/

and the fires that fade away/

rolling towards the blue skies/

but no rock or anchor/

can make them stay

Turn around/and blank walls stare back/

A steady beep a distant sound/

close your eyes and see the light/

appearing on and off the track

Turn around/and blank walls stare back/

A steady beep a distant sound/

close your eyes and see the light/

and fade towards an eternal black

The End
