That Space Between Us

Life is not in the seeming,
Or so I read in the science section
today.

All fragments of sight,
Ninety nine percent nothingness,
Well we always knew

something was missing,
But hey, there’s still point one percent of us;
A collective dream less real
than the brass buttons on your woolly winter coat.

Now that everything is less solid,
and since your memory is simply
the electric shock of a nuclear lie,
What’s left

but to sit by the seaside
with a cold can of beer
feeling the rest of me just
Slip away?

The End
