Catholic Guilt

Jesus Christ is barely alive on the cross you bear
Let me rest on my bed of nails tonight
so I can understand how you stand everything
you call a life

Thrust the crown of thorns with little care
for the poor girl you are scarring beneath
I guess that no one bleeds unless it is
considered holy

I can’t feel sorrow like I used to
because there’s nothing I can do

Stigmata was just a way of letting the pain out
streaming down your arms like the red sea
If you were an angel would you tear off
your wings?

Secrets of the resurrection be damned
I don’t want to live this life twice
From the starvation I endure in this desert
I call my hometown

The End
