"Carry the Burden with Open eyes"

A War poem plain and simple

"Carry the Burden with Open eyes"

'Let us enlist'

one best friend through thick and thin exclaims

'come on how hard could it be? Leave this town so small and come back a

'Nation's Hero?'

The next day two names signed on a line dotted

Two months past a camouflaged plane boarded

Buttlets fired....

I.E.D's exploded....

Life stolen...

Death cheated...

Sacrifices remembered...

With heavy hearts and burdened souls they mourn

With determined minds and patriotic tones they ask

To stay

To stay they must

For the better good

For the love of  a nation foreign

Three years fought and survived

Addicted to the bloodlust and dust

Dependant on success

They ask

To stay

To stay they must

For the better good

They carry the burden with open eyes!

A decade past since names on a line dotted

Now finally a camouflaged plane boarded

In a homeland grown foreign

To carry the burden with open eyes

Broken hearted a best friend through thick and thin exclaims

'Let us enlist!'

'Come on how hard could it be? Leave this town so small and come back a

'Nation's Hero'

The other true blue

'Perhaps we never left'

'Perhaps we never left'

Carrying the burden with open eyes

The End
